Ocella Birth Control Information
Ocella is the generic form of Yasmin, a birth control pill that is comprised of drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol. When taken daily within four hours of the same time, Ocella claims to be 99.9 percent effective at preventing pregnancy. While Ocella and Yasmin are popular forms of oral contraceptives, they have been linked to several severe side effects.
Risk Factors for Ocella Side Effects
Ocella is only available via prescription. Those with the highest risk of developing serious Ocella side effects include women who:
- Are over 35
- Are smokers
- Have a history of blood clots, heart problems, kidney or liver problems, stroke and/or adrenal gland disorder (among other conditions)
These patients should talk to their doctor about finding a safe, more appropriate form of contraception.
